The PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILURE bug check (0x9C) is a Windows Blue Screen of Death error that occurs when the first user-mode process fails to initialize during system startup. On Windows 7 x64, this error can be triggered by incompatible software, driver conflicts, or system file corruption. In one reported case, the error appeared after attempting to run Halo 2 for Vista on Windows 7 using a workaround involving Games for Windows Live and after uninstalling an unrecognized USB driver.
