realtek alc880

About this tag
The Realtek ALC880 is an onboard audio codec commonly found on motherboards like the MSI RC410M-L. Users have reported issues with Windows 7 hanging at the login screen when the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. Disabling the audio in the BIOS allows the system to boot normally. Installing the latest Realtek drivers from the official website may not resolve the hang. This suggests a compatibility or driver conflict specific to the ALC880 under Windows 7. Troubleshooting steps include checking BIOS settings, trying different driver versions, or using a dedicated sound card as a workaround.
