recycler
About this tag
The recycler folder, often seen as RECYCLER on Windows XP and older systems, is the system folder that stores deleted files before they are permanently removed. Users may encounter issues such as access denied errors when trying to empty the recycler, even when it appears empty, or find that the folder occupies significant disk space despite showing no contents. In some cases, deleted files from external devices like cameras may end up in the recycler folder of the drive. Troubleshooting steps include using tools like Unlocker to force deletion, checking for hidden or system files, and understanding that the recycler folder is managed by Windows and should not be manually deleted.
