The tag 'redetect' on WindowsForum.com covers discussions where users need Windows to re-identify or re-recognize hardware components. A common scenario involves Windows 10 incorrectly detecting hard drives as solid-state drives in the Disk Defragmenter tool, preventing optimization. Users seek methods to force Windows to redetect the drives so they are properly classified and can be defragmented. This tag is relevant for troubleshooting hardware detection issues, particularly with storage devices, and may involve driver updates, registry edits, or system settings adjustments to correct misidentification.

I converted from Windows 7 Home to windows10. When I go to Disk Defragmenter it tells me I can't optimize because my drives are solid state. My Drives are Hitachi SATA. How can I make Windows 10
redetect my Hard Drives?
