About this tag
Discussions about retail disk versions of Windows, particularly upgrade disks that include both 32-bit and 64-bit installation media. Users ask whether they can switch between architectures using the same retail disk set, and whether a separate product key is required for each version. The tag covers questions about licensing and installation rights for retail upgrade disks, especially when moving from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows on the same computer.

Windows 7 Upgrade from Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit using same disk
I know you can upgrade 32 bit to 64 bit using a custom install. My question though, is I installed Windows 7 32 bit using a retail upgrade disk. I've now decided I want to try 64 bit. Since the upgrade box contained 2 discs (32 & 64 bit), am I free to install the 64 bit on the same computer or...- nitewulf
