safe mode networking
About this tag
Safe mode networking is a diagnostic startup option in Windows that loads only essential drivers and services while enabling network connectivity. This tag covers discussions where users boot into safe mode with networking to troubleshoot network performance issues, such as reduced download speeds or asymmetric throughput. In some cases, safe mode temporarily resolves speed problems, suggesting a conflict with third-party drivers, services, or startup programs. The tag is relevant for Windows users experiencing wired or wireless network slowdowns that persist across different hardware and network configurations, and who use safe mode as a step to isolate the cause.
