self contained
About this tag
The tag 'self contained' on WindowsForum.com covers discussions about making Windows installations independent of other drives or bootloaders. A recurring theme involves users who want each operating system on a multi-boot system to have its own bootloader on its own disk, avoiding cross-disk dependencies. For example, a user describes installing Windows on one SSD while the bootloader was placed on another SSD containing Linux, and seeks a method to relocate the Windows bootloader so that both SSDs are self-contained. The tag focuses on troubleshooting bootloader placement and achieving disk independence without hardware changes.
Hi all.
Last week I've installed Windows on one of the SSDs in my computer (the other one has a linux installation).
During install I chose the free disk however Windows decided to install the bootloader in the other SSD (I believe I was never asked about where to place the bootloader...)
