slow wake
About this tag
Discussions tagged with 'slow wake' on WindowsForum.com focus on computers taking a long time to resume from sleep or standby modes. Users report issues with Windows 7, including slow wake times after upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit versions, and aggressive disk activity for minutes after the screen turns on. Some note that longer sleep periods result in slower wake-ups. Troubleshooting tips from Microsoft tech support cover battery life, library problems, and random HDD noise alongside wake delays. Common themes include hardware configurations like Atom netbooks and desktop PCs, with users seeking fixes for wake performance.

I did a clean install of the x64 OS with no problems.
Prior to that I was using the x32 version on a different hard drive.
I have the same programs as I had with the x32.
I keep my Start up pretty small.
I have an E8400 Intel CPU with a Gigabyte motherboad and 4 g's RAM.
This PC used to wake up...
I run Windows 7 Professional (completely legit) on an Atom netbook (Asus 1005HA), and while i find the system at least as fast as XP, when it's really up and running, even with all the eye candy switched on, there is another thing which is not so good.
Wakeups from standby are horribly slow...
