    Windows 8 How do I turn OFF auto arrange, and snap to grid on the desktop

    How do I turn off auto arrange, and also stop the snap to grid function on the desktop so I can arrange the tiles exactly the way I want?

    Windows 7 Can I turn off snap-to-grid for icons on desktop?

    I would like to slide my icons closer to the edge and bunch them up more. I don't see a "snap-to-grid" attribute anywhere, but that's what I think is happening. Can I change it? TIA LAS
