About this tag
Discussions about software keys on WindowsForum.com cover compatibility between different key sources and installation media. Users ask whether a Digital River key, often purchased at a discount, will activate a retail DVD copy of Windows. The tag focuses on practical activation scenarios, including 32-bit versus 64-bit versions and cross-licensing between digital downloads and physical discs. Common themes include verifying key legitimacy, matching key types to installation media, and troubleshooting activation failures. While not exhaustive, the tag reflects real user concerns about mixing OEM, retail, and digital license keys.
Can anyone point me to documentation of the effect wherein HKCU registry

I bought the $49 versions from Amazon back in July and got them and also bought like 3 different keys from digital river from $29.99, student price. Will a key for a "32 bit" version from Digital river work on a "32 bit" DVD retail copy???
Just wondered if anyone has tried it out.
