standard driver

About this tag
The standard driver tag covers discussions about generic graphics drivers that Windows installs when a dedicated GPU driver is missing or fails to install. In one thread, a user with an Acer Aspire X1700 and Nvidia G100 GPU on Windows 7 could not install the proper Nvidia driver, leaving the system on a standard graphics driver. This tag is relevant for troubleshooting driver detection issues, legacy hardware, and situations where Windows defaults to a basic driver due to compatibility or installation errors.
