About this tag
The start interface in Windows 8 is the tile-based screen that appears after booting. Users have reported issues where the start interface loads but clicking desktop tiles or program tiles produces no response, effectively locking the system. This problem can occur after installing certain software, such as SourceGear VaultClient or Mumble, and may prevent access to the desktop and applications. Troubleshooting steps often involve using the sign-out option from the user icon to regain control. Discussions on WindowsForum.com focus on diagnosing and resolving such start interface failures, including potential conflicts with third-party applications or system settings.
