About this tag
The Windows 7 Starter edition was a low-cost, feature-limited version of Windows 7 designed primarily for netbooks and low-power devices. Discussions on WindowsForum.com highlight common frustrations with this edition, including the inability to change the desktop background, lack of Aero Glass and other personalization features, and restrictions on display language settings. Users often seek ways to upgrade to a more functional edition like Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, but face challenges due to the absence of optical drives on netbooks. Password recovery and networking with other Windows versions are also recurring topics. The tag covers troubleshooting, upgrade paths, and workarounds for the limitations of Windows 7 Starter edition.

I recently bought a new netbook that came with Windows 7 Starter installed. I want to be able to type in Chinese and Japanese. Is that something that the Starter edition can do or do I need the full version? Also is it even advisable to install full Windows 7 on a netbook? Thanks.
