storage discrepancy
About this tag
The storage discrepancy tag on WindowsForum.com covers user-reported differences in folder sizes between internal and external drives. Common causes include hidden files, system files, and file system overhead that Windows may not display even with hidden files enabled. Discussions often involve manual backup comparisons, AppData folder analysis, and troubleshooting steps to reconcile reported versus actual storage usage. The tag is relevant for Windows users experiencing unexplained size mismatches during file transfers or backups.

being anal, i compared the size of my laptop's internal HD compared to the ext drive when it was done.
results:
internal: 5+ BG
ext. 2+ GB
so i compared the...
