strike f1
About this tag
The 'strike f1' tag on WindowsForum.com covers issues where a computer displays the message 'Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility' and fails to boot normally. In the tagged thread, a user encounters this error when trying to boot Hiren's Boot CD from a USB flash drive after replacing a failing hard drive with a larger IDE drive. Pressing F1 repeats the message endlessly, preventing access to the boot menu or operating system. The discussion focuses on troubleshooting this boot loop, including BIOS settings, hard drive recognition, and USB boot configuration. This tag is relevant for users facing persistent F1 prompts during startup, often related to hardware changes or BIOS misconfiguration.
I have used Hiren's Boot CD a great deal, but now I am unable to. Whenever I click Enter on USB Flash Device in the menu, instead of opening up Hiren's Boot CD, it is giving me the message:
When I strike F1, it just repeats the same message ad infinitum.
I have Hiren's on a 4GB flash drive...
