stuck process
About this tag
The stuck process tag covers Windows scenarios where a system operation, application, or utility hangs indefinitely. Common examples include chkdsk stuck at stage 3 on a secondary drive, Windows Update configuration hanging during boot, system restore freezing on shutdown, and socket-related process hangs after a cumulative update. Users often encounter these issues during disk checks, update installations, or network operations. Troubleshooting typically involves waiting, forced restarts, or running commands like chkdsk manually. The tag reflects real user experiences with processes that fail to complete, requiring intervention to resume normal operation.
