If you've recently made the leap to Windows 11, you might find that its File Explorer behaves a little differently than you're used to. Unlike Windows 10, which greeted users with the trusty "This PC" page, Windows 11 opens directly to the Home page by default. But worry not! There’s a...
In previous editions of Windows it was my experience that stores would be filed in \users\username\Documents (or another sub folder such as Music). I just installed Windows 11, electing to have files backed up in onedrive. I copied files into Documents, Music, Pictures, et. When I go to...
On My "This PC" page, I show 4 extra nonexistent USB drives.
Little doubt they showed up when I used some thumb drives.
In my PCs POST setup there are shown 4 extra drives, "General MassStorage Drive Class 2952", numbers 00 thru 03.
I believe these point towards the same nonexistent drives...
Whenever I plugin an USB flash drive or USB hard disk then these devices are recognized by Win10 successfully.
But they appear always two times in File Explorer:
- As an entry on root level
- as an entry below "This PC"
The drive label is the same e.g. "USB Dive (F: )"
How can I disable this...
I have a fresh install of Win10Pro. However, when I look at File Explorer, there is no Quick Access Link for "Downloads" and there is also no "Downloads entry under the "This PC" section. The "This PC" entry will not allow me to add a new Folder either as it redirects to network.
When I use...

My F: drive has disappeared.
When I go into This PC it is not there.
When I try to receive a file (e.g. a Word file) I get an error message that it cannot retrieve the file because the F: drive is missing.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Hello!
I'm facing this issue where the drives don't appear in This PC under the Windows Explorer or a Search folder prompt.

I was trying to move my Music, Videos and Pictures folders to the D: drive instead of keeping it on the C: (SSD) drive.
Unfortunately when doing so I created this monstrosity and I can not seem to undo this mess:

Why does W10 File Explorer list a USB 3.0 flash drive on the Desktop?
No other USB device or standard drive is there.
Win 7 didn't include the stick on the Desktop. Don't recall seeing it there in 8/8.1 either.
This flash drive appeared in those systems only under the usual MY COMPUTER (This...
I have upgraded an HP Laptop to Windows 10. I have noticed that when I open windows the position is not the same as when I closed the window. Sometimes it is close. Eg with FF pushes the top up if any part of the bottom frame is below the taskbar. Windows Edge, the newly opened window appears to...
Okay, since there are many questions on this topic, none exactly the same as mine, I'd like to make myself perfectly clear.
I know about Default Programs, and I know about Autoplay settings in the Control Panel.
What I want to achieve is use Media Player Classic (comes with the K-Lite codec...

Hey all,
I'm in the process of organizing the data explosion that are my files and folders and until recently had been using the "Library" focused Windows 7. I'm working with a different PC now which has Windows 8.1 as its OS. I'm a little confused by 8.1's lack of "Library" filing structure...
Hello
I have Win 8.1.
I made a dvd from the Win 8 iso file and then got 8.1 from the store.
if I want to refresh 8.1 can I insert my only dvd disc of 8.0 and once refreshed, go to the store to install 8.1?
I would prefer this to trying to create an 8.1 dvd if possible. I think the activation...
It's occurred to me to mention a couple of things, might clear things up some.
I don't have any icons on the desktop.
In Windows 8, by default, there was/is a 'folder' on the Taskbar called Libraries.
Someone in another thread said something about Libraries, now, being 'hidden', by default...
