About this tag
Discussions about unconfigured drives on WindowsForum.com often involve enterprise storage controllers like LSI MegaRAID. Users report that after installing a RAID card, drives appear as unconfigured, preventing Windows from booting or being recognized. Common troubleshooting steps include checking backplane connections, accessing the MegaRAID configuration utility to repair or configure drives, and addressing peripheral issues that block RAID software access. The tag covers scenarios where drives are detected by the controller but not configured into a virtual disk or array, requiring manual intervention to restore functionality.

If I remove the backplane wires from drives with the card in, the server starts good, but no drives. After reconnecting...- ws1960
