About this tag
The tag 'unknown artist' on WindowsForum.com is used in discussions about Windows Media Player (WMP) failing to read or display MP3 metadata, such as artist and album information. Users report that WMP in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 shows 'Unknown Artist' or 'Unknown Album' for MP3 files, even when the tags are correctly embedded. Issues include missing metadata after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, and WMP not recognizing all music files or organizing ripped CDs into multiple folders. These problems are specific to WMP's handling of MP3 tags and do not affect other media players or file formats like FLAC.
Hello There,
this evening i upgraded my Windows 7 i used for Gaming to Windows 8.1
It only had 5-6 Games installed and rarely was on the Internet, so i thought the upgrade would go fast and easy.
But since the upgrade (all updates in Windows 8.1 are already done), WMP does not read any MP3...
I noticed an annoying quirk in the WMP that came with Windows 7. It does not recognize or store all of my music files, including the CD files that I ripped. When I revert back to my Windows Vista partition, ALL of the music files are there and intact! What the blank is going on?
