version selection
About this tag
The version selection tag on WindowsForum.com covers discussions about choosing between 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows during installation. Users share experiences with Windows 8 upgrades, noting that the installer may automatically select a version based on hardware without offering a clear choice. Topics include how to manually select the desired architecture, understanding system requirements, and troubleshooting cases where the installer defaults to an unexpected version. The tag is relevant for anyone seeking guidance on controlling which Windows edition is installed on their PC.
I've installed Win 8 on two older but similar laptops, one went 32 bit and the other 64 bit. Both had 2 gig of memory and I would have preferred 32 bit but I don't remember being given a choice. Did I miss something?
