video tdr failure

About this tag
The video TDR failure error, often appearing as a Blue Screen of Death with code 116, is a common Windows crash linked to graphics driver timeouts. On WindowsForum.com, users report this error during gaming or general use, frequently pointing to the nvlddmkm.sys driver on NVIDIA systems. Troubleshooting steps discussed include updating or rolling back graphics drivers, using official NVIDIA archives for legacy cards like the GeForce 210 or GTX 670, and following conservative install workflows. The error can also occur with older games on Windows 8. For reliable fixes, community advice emphasizes verifying driver signatures and using rollback-ready methods to avoid further instability.
