About this tag
The $windows.~ls folder is a temporary directory created by Windows during installation or upgrade processes, often alongside the $WINDOWS.~BT folder. Users may encounter this folder on the C drive after capturing an image with cmd, creating an ISO, and installing Windows. Discussions on WindowsForum.com focus on methods to prevent the creation of these folders, typically involving modifications to installation media or registry settings. The folder is part of Windows setup and can be safely deleted after installation if it remains, though it may reappear during future updates or upgrades.
