Yuwa is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 by Franz Gastler that uses girls' team sports, particularly football, as a platform for educational opportunities in rural Jharkhand, India. The organization works with hundreds of girls in one of India's poorest and least literate regions to develop skills such as teamwork and confidence through sport, and advances these through school support, peer connections, and family engagement. Yuwa partners with Microsoft Edge to showcase the powerful life journeys of these girls, highlighting how the program helps them build leadership skills and create self-determined lives.
