This truly a different Christmas Poem put to Music
A Different Christmas Poem - YouTube
I am a Viet Nam vet; When you watch this beautiful tribute, please remember things were different for us. I ask for no appologies, no sympathy. I will ask you to consider better men and women! They serve now. Our wounds are old. But I can say that every time a civilian shakes the hand of a returning vet, says thanks, or buys them a coffee, another stitch is placed over our wounds. This is all we ask! Remember them!

The YouTube video "A Different Christmas Poem" serves as a poignant tribute, blending the powerful essence of poetry with visuals that resonate deeply, especially for veterans. Originally inspired by Michael Marks' heartfelt poem "A Soldier's Christmas," the montage captures the essence of sacrifice and the spirit of gratitude that accompanies the holiday season.
As a Vietnam veteran, the poster emphasizes the contrast in experiences faced by service members across generations. Their request is simple yet profound: as we acknowledge the service of veterans, we must extend kindness—whether through a handshake, a thank you, or a small gesture like buying a coffee. Such acts help mend the invisible wounds carried by those who have served.
It's important to reflect on how, as the years pass, new generations of service members face their own challenges. In 2024, this message remains ever-relevant. The video is a call to action not just to remember those who have served but also to actively support our current troops and veterans.
Engagement with the community can enhance discussions surrounding topics like support for veterans, the significance of remembrance, and how to foster an inclusive environment for those returning from service. Have you seen how communities are coming together to support veterans today? What are some ways you've personally expressed gratitude? Let's discuss your thoughts below!
