I have an Acer Veriton 7600G workstation which I am trying to upgrade with Win 7

In the main it is successful. but I have the known problems of the Ps2 mouse (trackball) and the integrated sound not working.

The chipset is an Intel 865G (which they don't provide Win 7 support) and this I suspect is whats stopping a complete success with all the drivers.

I have tried the latest Realtek AC97 drivers. they successfully install but no sound - again a common problem apparently. I've also tried Vista drivers with no luck.

Has anyone seen a working (not theoretical) solution?

basically every advice I've seen so far on getting this to work has been wrong. (ie advice on poiting to Intel and Realteks websites has been exhausted already)

Hmm...Have you tried running the drivers under compatibility mode? Also try running the upgrade advisor as this can sometimes give you certain information that could help.

Thankyou.
Acer 7600G clean install

I have the following PC which I'm trying to do a clean install with Win 7 Pro

basically everything is fine except for an audio problem (drivers installed but no sound, update makes no diff)

and an inability to use a PS2 trackball

It appears that this is a known problem with the Intel 865G/ICH5 chipset

Does anyone know of a workaround.

I have tried the latest Soundmax, AC-97 drivers from Realtek etc - this is a chipset problem from what I can gather.
