Windows 7 Activation

I recently did a clean install of home premium from the original disk that I had purchased, the reason for doing so was to eliminate some problems I was having. I did this install on a different HD and still have the other HD with the earlier install. I did the install with no problems until I tried to activate it and recieved the following message.

The following failure occurred while trying to use the product key.

Code: 0xC004F061

Description: The software licenseing service determined that this specified product key can only be used for upgrading, not for clean installations.

How can I resolve this? Thanks, Bob

Have you tried installing without using the Key, and uncheck the Activate when online? Maybe after you install, it will recognize your install and allow activation after entering the key, or allow a phone call to Microsoft.

This situation is one I have been wondering about since they changed the upgrade process.
