Lavasoft has released a new Version 8.1.0 of Ad-Aware anti-spyware, including a free version.
Does it find anything that Windows Defender misses? I have used and loved AdAware in the past but the latest versions put so much "stuff" in the startup locations on my system... INCLUDING an entry in the Task Manager Scheduler to check for updates.... without my knowledge or permission. I LOATHE software applications installing their "features" to run on MY computer automatically. How can they possibly know what I want? ..and give it to me without even asking? Death to them all !
If you don't like it then don't use it. No one is ramming this down your throat. There are however, other forum users who would perhaps be interested in this update.
I wonder if it EVER found anything anyway? my experience was Defender was borderline pointless.
I must admit, one of the first things I do is to turn Defender off and load up something else..
