Hello there,
I can't see any input devices after the latest Windows 10 update on my company Caliber Enterprises (https://www.caliberfasteners.com) office PC. When I download and install "Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_6CCVY_WIN_6.0.9147.1_A18.EXE" Windows cannot start (no boot issue but OS doesn't start, I've waited 30 minutes) hence I had to reset my PC to before Windows update, then microphone was there. Then I updated the Realtek driver again, and the problem persists: the operating system does not boot.
I reset my PC to factory settings, reinstalled the operating system and everything from scratch, the microphone was working, and I installed all of the Windows updates, but I still see no input device.
I also tried Support Assist, but it didn't recognize the device:
All I can find on the internet is "try to reboot your desktop, uninstall & install audio the driver (which renders my desktop unusable), give permission to mic. on windows settings, find the device on device manager," etc., none of which work for me.

Any guidelines would be greatly appreciated.

Did You Try Doing the following Steps :-
  • Right click the volume icon in System Tray at right end of task bar, open Recording Devices, see if the microphone is listed, set it as Default device.
  • Type Microphone in Start Search, open Set up Microphone, scroll down to Microphone and choose Get started to set it up.
  • Try rolling back the sound controller drivers in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Choose Sound controller device, then Driver tab, then Roll back if available.
  • Update the Sound drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. While there make sure you also have the latest Chipset, Display, Network, USB and all other drivers, comparing with the version presently installed in Device Manager.
  • If no newer driver then uninstall the ones presently installed in Device Manager, reached by right clicking the Start Button. Restart PC to reinstall.

These steps should help solve your problem as at times the drivers get corrupted during a Windows Update.
Hope This Helps You Out.
