Hello Windows Insiders,
Today, we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.1616 and Build 22624.1616 (KB5025308) to the Beta Channel.
Build Details:
- Build 22624.1616: New features rolling out.
- Build 22621.1616: New features off by default.
REMINDER: Insiders who were previously on Build 22623 will automatically get moved to Build 22624 via an enablement package. This helps differentiate devices with new features turned on from those with features off by default. Insiders on Build 22621.xxxx can opt to install the update that enables new features (Build 22624.xxxx).
### Changes and Improvements in Build 22624.1616:
#### [Live Captions]:
- Language support expanded to include Danish, English (Ireland), French (Canada), Korean, and Portuguese (Portugal).
### Fixes in Build 22624.1616:
#### [General]:
- Turning on the new toggle under Settings > Windows Update for “getting the latest updates as soon as they are available” now offers a “Windows configuration update” via Windows Update for Insiders on Build 22624. Ensure that you have Update Stack Package update (version 413.2122.0).
- Fixed an underlying issue causing an increase in explorer.exe crashes from the last flight.
#### [Input]:
- Fixed an issue where the touch keyboard didn’t correctly recognize a hardware keyboard in some cases.
- Updated the TextInput/EnableTouchKeyboardAutoInvokeInDesktopMode MDM policy to allow “2” as a valid value to enforce showing the touch keyboard on tapping an edit control even when the hardware keyboard is attached.
#### [Live Captions]:
- Fixed an issue causing live captions to crash on first launch due to a registry data retrieval issue.
- Fixed live captions’ Add a language menu icon and label overlap issue.
- Introduced features to the enhanced speech recognition language files to improve performance and provide out-of-language filtering.
#### [Accessibility]:
- Fixed an issue causing voice access’s window to be empty after opening.
- Fixed an issue where voice access was crashing when using the 'go to the start of a document' command.
- Fixed an issue where turning off the profanity filter in voice access wouldn’t work.
- Fixed an issue where Narrator’s Ctrl + Home and Ctrl + End commands to move to the top and bottom of the web page weren’t working correctly in Edge.
### Fixes for BOTH Build 22621.1616 & Build 22624.1616:
- New! Firewall settings now allow configuration of application group rules.
- Fixed legacy Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) and the new Windows LAPS feature managing configured local account passwords.
- Supported Islamic Republic of Iran’s daylight saving time change order from 2022.
- Fixed DirectX errors with older Intel graphics drivers.
- Fixed Resilient File System (ReFS) stop error issues.
- Fixed protected content display issue when minimized using Taskbar Thumbnail Live Preview.
- Unified Write Filter (UWF) now turns off correctly when called via WMI.
- Fixed visibility issue with the Chinese input method’s first suggested item.
- SMB Direct endpoints now available on systems using multi-byte character sets.
- Fixed Mobile Device Management (MDM) printing exception issue.
- Fixed Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) process stop error (0xc0000005) and subsequent machine restart issue.
- Fixed Microsoft Edge IE mode Tab Window Manager stop response issue.
- Signed Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policies now properly applied with Secure Boot enabled.
- Updated app icons for mobile providers.
- Fixed MySQL command failures on Windows Xenon containers.
- Task View now displays correctly after closing a full screen game.
- Fixed PIN sign-in issues with Windows Hello for Business on Remote Desktop Services.
- Microsoft Edge IE mode pop-ups now open in the foreground.
- Fixed Administrator Account Lockout policies reporting in GPResult and Resultant Set of Policy.
### Known Issues:
#### [Search on the Taskbar]:
- Bing button in taskbar’s search box may display daily rotating search highlight before changing back to the Bing button after restart.
#### [File Explorer]:
- Shift + Right-click on a file or folder does not open “Show more options”.
#### [Live Captions]:
- ARM64 devices installing enhanced speech recognition support through Language & Region settings will require restarting live captions if switching languages in the live captions Caption language menu.
- Language feature installation progress may become hidden on the Language & Region settings page, causing unexpected delays before live caption setup detects it.
