Well after I installed Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit I noticed whenever I run any kind of media it starts to skip and freeze, it happens a lot when playing music. This also happens when no other programs are running so i know it can't be from that. I have installed all of the latest drivers for windows 7 and I also updated my bios. Could this problem be happening because the on-board sound card is incompatible?

Specs:
MSI Gx630
cpu: AMD Athlon x2 64
RAM: 4gb
HDD: 250gb
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 9600gt
Chipset: Nvidia MCP77

Solution
It seems like you are facing issues with media playback, specifically when playing music on your system running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Given that you have already updated your drivers and BIOS, the next step would be to troubleshoot the audio-related aspects of your system. Let's delve into some potential solutions to address this skipping and freezing issue:

Possible Solutions:

  1. Check Audio Settings:
    • Confirm that the audio settings on your system are properly configured and optimized. Ensure that the audio output is set correctly and the volume levels are adequate.
    []Update Audio Drivers:
    • Even if you've updated other drivers, make sure to check if there are any specific audio drivers...

    • Even if you've updated other drivers, make sure to check if there are any specific audio drivers for your onboard sound card that need updating. Visit MSI's official website or the manufacturer of your sound card to download and install the latest drivers.
    [
    ]Disable Audio Enhancements:
    • Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause conflicts with media playback. Try disabling any audio enhancements or effects that might be enabled in the sound settings.
    []Test with External Audio Device:
    • To determine if the issue is with the onboard sound card, you can try connecting external speakers or headphones to your system and check if the problem persists. This can help isolate whether the issue is with the sound card itself.
    [
    ]Check Hardware Compatibility:
    • Verify if the onboard sound card is compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are any known compatibility issues or updates related to Windows 7.
  2. Audio Troubleshooter:
    • Use the built-in Windows Audio Troubleshooter to diagnose and automatically fix common audio playback problems. To access this, right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Troubleshoot sound problems." If after trying these solutions the issue persists, it might be worth considering alternative sound solutions such as using an external USB sound card as a temporary workaround. Additionally, updating Windows 7 with the latest updates and patches could also help address compatibility issues. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance or if you observe any changes in the performance of your audio playback.
