hello,

i am having a hard time getting getting my sound card (ECHO MIA) to work under windows 7.

i used the latest Vista driver, and echo appears fine under device manager. However it is not showing under playback devices, and my windows 7 defaulted audio output to some digital s/pdif output.

any ideas what can be tried to make it work?

Same issue..different sound card

I have an eMachines T5224 with a different Sound Card...SigmaTel. However, my upgrade from Vista to Win 7 resulted in the same issue...a red "x" on the Speaker icon in System Tray; and the message "No audio output devices are installed."

I deleted the SigmaTel sound drivers (from the device manager.) I then visited the hardware manufacturer website, and downloaded the SigmaTel driver (though it was not an upgrade, merely the same one.) Reinstall and reboot of the sound driver fixed the problem for me.

Correction to previous reply..

Reinstall of the downloaded sound driver (rather than the inbox one,) THEN reboot fixed the problem for me.

Sonicraf,

Have you installed the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard? Also, did you install the driver through compatibility mode? Try to uninstall the device, restart the computer and let Windows 7 find drivers through Windows update.

Does this work? Also should you require additional assistance with this process Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here Windows 7 Category . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads there for additional support.
