The Beast has a mother. A customised bus now ferrying Barack Obama around the Midwest is so heavily armoured that American journalists have already nicknamed it the ‘Megabeast’ in a tribute to the five-tonne limo the president normally rides around in, which was long ago dubbed the Beast.
The exact specifications of the all-black Megabeast, which bristles with communications equipment, are unknown. But if the Beast limo is able to withstand an attack by a rocket-propelled grenade then the Megabeast must be similarly resilient.
