I am having real trouble installing windows 7
I have tried a clean install about 5 times and it fails at the end of installation after it's starting services. There is just a black screen with a flashing cursor at the top left of the screen. Last night I left it to see if it was taking a long time but when i came down this morning it was still the same.
Sometimes it screws up the Xp drive so i have to reinstall that also.
I have XP on drive C which is NTFS and I have create a primary partition on D which is for win7
I have read about people having to disconnect a second monitor or whatever but i only have one monitor lugged into the VGA card so i don't think that can be it
I have made sure all the drivers are up tp date on XP and install from there doing and I've also tried installing straight from the disc but i get the same problem every time at the end of the installation.
I can't boot into safe mode becuase it says it cannot complete the installation.
When i came down this morning and restarted computer, it said windows didn't install correctly and was rolling back the installation.
No matter what I try doesn't work

It seems like you're encountering issues with installing Windows 7, and it's failing towards the end of the installation process. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try to resolve this problem:
Check Installation Media:
- Verify Installation Disc:
- Ensure that the Windows 7 installation disc is not damaged or scratched. Try using a different disc or creating a bootable USB drive with Windows 7 installation files.
BIOS Settings:
- Check if your BIOS is set to AHCI mode or IDE mode. Try switching between the two modes to see if it affects the installation process.
Partitioning and Formatting:
- During installation, make sure you are formatting the partition intended for Windows 7 correctly.
- Delete the existing partition on drive D and recreate it during the installation process.
Drivers and Updates:
- Disconnect any unnecessary external devices during the installation, especially USB drives or external storage.
- Disable any unnecessary hardware in the BIOS before starting the installation.
Installation Process:
- Perform a clean installation without keeping any previous settings or files. This can sometimes resolve issues related to conflicts.
- Before starting the installation, remove all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse.
Additional Steps:
- Memory Test: Ensure that your system's memory (RAM) is working correctly. You can run a memory test to rule out any memory-related issues.
- Hard Drive Test: Check the health of your hard drive using tools like CHKDSK to scan for any disk errors.
- Ensure that the Windows 7 installation disc is not damaged or scratched. Try using a different disc or creating a bootable USB drive with Windows 7 installation files.
