Hi All,

I really need some help on this one folks, I currently own a Hp Envy 14 1110nr Processor: Intel Core i5-460M Processor (2.53 Ghz) 8g 640gb 7200 ddr3 with switchable graphic ati 5650 and intel. This is the 2nd Hp laptop I have owned, my 1st had the same issue after a year of no problems, then I got the bsod messages out of left field to the point of me purchasing another laptop. I was assured by many that it was a fluke occurrence and should not represent Hp in anyway. Now its a year later and I am having the same issues happen all over again, its like a replay of my old laptop. It does not matter if I am gaming or watching a movie the computer freezes and locks then will force itself to reboot. On the start up of windows I get the all famous message.........

The frequency of this phenomenon is becoming more and more prevalent. Just as my old one did, now if this had never happened to me before I would have just dismissed it to bad luck. But since this is the second time, well, I am irate. Especially since I spent over a grand on this machine, spent time researching it relentlessly and now this. I use my laptop all day, everyday so needless to say I log lots of hours on this machine, so I can't have this. I am a smart enough guy ( I think) that with some help I can fix this hopefully, myself. Yet I have know Idea where to start, last time I did system restores, diver updates and finally reset it back to factor setting with absolutely no effect. Before I start tearing this thing apart where should I begin???? Please any help with this is much appreciated..... should say that I did read on these bosd posts that maybe temp has something to do with it, like the machine running hot. I have noticed that it sometimes is really hot when the bosd happens. Then again it happens when its cool to,,,,,, grrrrr.

Thanks

Jason

Link Removed - I'm running the last 11 memory dumps from your system.

The advice is based upon the report you gave that stated "BCCode: fe"
Since that's the only info we had, it's basically just a shot in the dark (although it's a bit more focused than that).
The additional info and the additional memory dumps let us dig a bit deeper.

In this case the first problem noted is the use of Daemon Tools/Alcohol % software.
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver...

A BCCode: fe error is a USB driver error. So the first place to start is with whatever's connected to your USB ports.
This also includes any in-built items (like a webcam, fingerprint reader, SD card reader, etc) that connect via USB.
But, start by removing anything that's plugged into the USB port and then physically inspect the USB ports to make sure that none are damaged. Post back with the results of that, and then we'll look into other USB devices (I didn't find any listed on the HP specifications page for your model - so there may not be any).

Here's more info on the error message: Link Removed
Note the number of articles related to Win7. Please ensure that you have all available Windows Updates.

First off thank for helping me with this, I truly appreciate it. Now as for the usbs, I don't have anything plugged into my usb's, an I hardly ever use them. I do use a set of head phones that Link RemovedI plug into the jack that's next to them but that's as far as that goes. I once in awhile use a flash drive but have never had any issues with that. I have a Bluetooth set up for my wireless printer so that excludes that. I dont have a HDMI setup or anything that would require me extensive use of my usb's. As far as I can tell they all are in good shape, none appear to be damaged in anyway. This really has me perplexed since i hardly use them. I did the windows7 forum diagnostic toll thing and I hope what I am posting is what you are asking for. If I have in anyway screwed this up please just let me know and I will try it again. Again thank you for helping me, I am so grateful.

Again I hope this is what you were asking me for, was I supposed to download that cpuz thing and give you the diagnostic info as well? Please let me know.. thanks again

Each system is different and we use the reports extensively.

All right. Will wait for the upcoming Blue Screen (I actually don't want it to happen though), but will take your advise after it appears again. Thanks!

Next, the dump files are suggestive of problems with your mouse. And most Dell computers use USB mice. I'd suggest updating yoru mouse drivers from the Dell website (if there are any) - and also trying another mouse to see if that stops the problems.
You have Evo mouse drivers - could that be the USB device?

Please ensure that you have all available Windows Updates.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Lot's of Norton in the memory dumps. If the above doesn't fix it, please try un-installing Norton to see if that helps.
You can find a free anti-virus here: Link Removed - Invalid URL Don't forget to turn the Windows Firewall on also.

I'm ignoring the video stuff for right now - but that's something we may want to consider later on.

John, Again thanks, I can't say it enough for the help you have givin me here. First off I don't know if you know but I don't have a Dell I have a Hp Envy 14 1110Nr. So I am somewhat confused on the whole dell mouse thing. I dont use an external mouse, just the mouse pad that came with the computer which is synaptics click pad V 7.4. That I just updated recently, so I don't know if that update has messed it up any. If you think that is the cause I guess I could roll it back to its original state. Second the daemon thing is very interesting since I had it on my old Hp as well as this one. I could see that being the cause if it is, I will uninstall the program as you advice'd. Since I have power Iso I guess I really don't need daemon, its pointless to have both, even though I use them. Last night for the heck of it I ran a drive check on my C drive for errors. I did the automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Everything as far as I could tell checked out fine. I did not have any problems today, although that could be just be dumb luck. I am going to remove daemon tools lite, I have already updated most of my drivers including my mouse pad. Again I don't know if that's the problem because I did update my mouse drivers. So I am not sure what I should do with that?

If there is anything else that could help you with this please let me know, also can you clarify the whole mouse thing. Mean while I will start with what you gave me and let you know the out come. Thanks a million,

Jason

My apologies - I am a beta tester and some other memory dumps were left in my analysis folder when I ran yours.
I'll run them again and will compare the results.

Daemon Tools is still the most likely entry that could cause this - so it should be uninstalled and the offending sptd.sys driver removed.

The memory dumps all point to USB - and that could be due to the trackpad or another, built-in USB device.
I checked again and wasn't able to determine if any of the devices were USB.
Please run the data collection tool again and let it finish running (at times it may see as if nothing is happening). There will be a notice to zip up the files when the app is finished running.

Also, please check Device Manager to see if there are any unknown/malfunctioning devices listed there.

Finally, you can use this free tool to see any USB devices on your system: View any installed/connected USB device on your system
Please zip up a copy of it's report and upload it for us to have a look at.

Intel TurboBoost is listed under the Video section at the HP page - I have no clue why this would be. But I also can't find the software that controls switching between the Intel and ATI graphics - so I have to wonder if that is it. Please replace it (the Intel TurboBoost) software also.

Sorry I have not been able to start what you recommended me to do. I did want to mention though that I did remove daemon like you suggested but I am still having the BSOD problem. I have isolated the blue screens to this, its happens without fail after I put it in sleep mode. This is the only time it happens, it does not matter if I have used it a minute or an hour. For example, say I use the computer then have to leave for whatever reason I put it to sleep. When I come back and return to my session it will freeze and lockup without fail every time. This is the same thing as my old hp did, when ever I put it in a sleep state the blue screens would happen. That is one heck of a coincidence, is there any reason that would cause this??? I know you have pointed to the usb as being the cause, possibly. But is there anything to this sleep mode thing in your opinion???? I have already update everything that I could as far as drivers and all

Is this the information you wanted????? If it is not, what do you want me to give you or how do I get you the exact info you need????

It used to be (in the XP days) that sleep mode problems were caused by video drivers.
But now there's lot's more involved.
Update:
- chipset drivers
- video drivers
- storage drivers
- network drivers

I can't make any sense out of the posted info. Please do the following:
Open the USBDeView program
Press the Ctrl and A keys at the same time - this will select all the devices
Click on File...Save Selected Items
Save as a Comma Delimited Text File (so I can import it into Excel)
Zip it up and post that with your next post.
