I'm having a very similar issue... except that mine mostly seems to happen when the computer goes into hibernation. I took a look at the files in the minidump. I also have the kernel dump from the most recent.

The way I have avoided this issue has been to turn off my hibernation and either keep my computer on all the time, or shut down when I'm not using it.

In the dump files, I saw two other drivers that seemed to be problematic (and probably related):

WUSB54GSCV2_AMD64.sys which relates to the USB wireless adapter I'm using: LinkSys compact wireless-G usb network adapter with speedbooster ver.2. I know from this thread that this particular adapter does not have any Windows 7 drivers, the latest driver is for Vista though.

nusb3xhc.sys which (I think) relates to my MOBO USB 3 port. The majority of the dump files focus on this one.
I found someone having a similar issue... I'm okay with using USB 2 for the Wireless Adapter if that resolves the BSOD problem, but I'd like to be able to use the USB3 connector for external storage and back-up in the future. Looks like I'm using Renesas USB 3 Host Controller. I found what appears to be a newer driver, but I'm not sure it is the right one: SONY/NEC/RENESAS Drivers & Firmwares Plus, it shows as an image an older wireless adapter that I was using. It was a D-Link... I'm now using a LinkSys. Looks like someone resolved a similar problem by resetting overclocking back to defaults... but I'm not overclocked at all.

NOTE: Just found another forum thread that talks about the updated drivers...

I previously ran memtest86+ for a number of hours: no errors found... and sfc /scannow: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." andView attachment chkdiskResults_110712.txt

So, I'll try updating the Renesas USB 3 Host Controller driver and firmware and moving the wireless adapter to a USB 2 port and see how that affects things. If that doesn't seem to help I'll uninstall the wireless adapter and run an ethernet cable to my wireless router.

I consider myself a novice at all this, so any other insight into this problem would be much appreciated!
I've been uploading the files to skydrive, but the kernel dump is big, so it's taking a bit to upload. Too long I think... So, I'll attach the dump files (and system info) and then post a link to skydrive for the kernel dump later (if requested).

One hibernation attempt with no crashing. But I also pulled the adapter from the USB 3 port. Will test this for a bit then move it back...

Hi MicroSam and Welcome to The Forum.

You'll get a far better response if you start your own thread as (a) An old thread may get overlooked. (b) Although "the same" every issue is different. Looking at your minidump, btw.

    Hi MicroSam.

    STOP 0x0000007C: BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER
    Usual causes:
    Device driver, ?Network hardware

Your latest dump file lists WUSB54GSCV2_AMD64.sys Tue Jan 08 20:52:33 2008 as the probable cause. This is possibly (?) a driver related to your Linksys wireless adapter and pre dates Windows 7 by 15 months.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

    As a Priority:

gdrv.sys Fri Mar 13 03:22:29 2009 Gigabyte Easy Saver. If you cannot update this then uninstall it.

GVTDrv64.sys Tue Sep 05 08:10:02 2006 Gigabyte EasyTune6 driver. Known issues with Windows 7. Uninstall

    Outdated Drivers. Update:

    nusb3hub.sys Fri Apr 23 02:34:35 2010
    nusb3xhc.sys Fri Apr 23 02:34:36 2010
Go to your Motherboard Mfr. Support website and update your USB 3.0 drivers.

    • Download and install Driver Sweeper in normal mode.

Yeah, as I mentioned... looks like that IS the most updated driver. So, if I continue to have problems with it, I will probably just get something else.

Updated Easy Saver. Unfortunately, I tried to uninstall ET6 and can't remember the password, so it won't let me uninstall!! (and I need to uninstall in order to update... go figure!) I tried to search for a way to recover the lost password but nothing found yet. Looks like I'll have to contact them to see if I can get around it.
Updated, but from NEC, not Gigabyte since the current listed MOBO driver is the one I just updated from!
I have an old graphics card... and they discontinued driver support for it before Win 7. I will look at this though.
I've updated the PCIe driver... downloading the Audio right now... current version is R2.63 (Gigabyte lists R2.62 though).
The last driver (I think) is for a wireless adapter card that I no longer have in my computer. I don't see it in device manager. So, would you suggest I uninstall it? And what is the best method to do so?

And what about the minidump that pointed to VolSnap.sys as a problem?

Need to update my drivers list!! Thanks for that!!

If you want to disable it, just rename it to something like .bak instead of .sys. This will stop it loading. It will also "break" any software related to it if still installed. If you get a problem you can change it back. After a while if no problems then discard it. I'd set a restore point before as well for extra security.

The volsnap.sys driver is a Windows driver. You get what you're given! Very rare for system drivers to actually be the cause of your crash. They usually get the blame as they're the last driver called before the crash.

I decided to stick with R2.62 (following your advice this time to stick with the drivers from Gigabyte's website), especially since RealTek gives this disclaimer for drivers downloaded from their website:

It is still an improvement and I can always update later. Maybe Gigabyte will update their list in a few months...

Good to know and keep in mind. Thanks again. I'll let this stew for a while with my hibernation settings turned on and report back.
