I have been having trouble with my Windows Vista during start-up for about two weeks now. Every time I start my computer it runs as normal, gives me the Welcome screen and then I get this blue screen. It is NOT the blue screen of death. There is nothing happening on the screen. I can move my mouse, but I cannot right-click. I can also hit ctrl-alt-delete and the task manager shows nothing running. The screen sits there for about a minute, doing nothing, and then my wallpaper and start menu and icons come up. Everything else seems to be running smoothly. I have no idea what this blue screen is or how I got it, but it's rather annoying to have to wait extra long for my computer to start-up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm new to HijackThis so I'm posting my stats and maybe someone can help me...

Solution
From the description you provided, it seems like you are experiencing a slow startup issue with your Windows Vista computer. The delay after the Welcome screen and the appearance of a blank blue screen before your wallpaper and icons load could be due to various reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Check Startup Programs: - Use the Task Manager to review the programs that start up automatically with Windows. - Disable any unnecessary startup programs that might be causing delays. 2. Run System File Checker (SFC): - Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command sfc /scannow. - This command will scan and repair any corrupted system files that...

- This command will scan and repair any corrupted system files that could be affecting the startup process. 3. Check for Malware: - Update your antivirus software and perform a full scan of your system to check for any malware or viruses that might be causing the slowdown. 4. Update Drivers: - Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially graphics and chipset drivers. - Visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers for your hardware. 5. Disk Cleanup: - Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files and optimize disk space. - Clean up temporary files, system files, and recycle bin contents. 6. Check Event Viewer: - Look for any errors or warnings in the Event Viewer that might provide clues about what's causing the delay during startup. Regarding the HijackThis log you provided, it shows the startup items and some browser helper objects (BHOs) present on your system. While the log gives insights into the running processes and startup items, it doesn't directly indicate the cause of the slow startup issue. If you still encounter the slow startup issue after trying these steps, you may consider seeking further assistance or performing more advanced troubleshooting methods. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on any of the steps I've outlined.
