I'm trying to do a clean install, but I get the message "cannot boot from CD - CODE:5 Bootmgr is missing.
I've burned the disc twice and checked the disc iit is on there.
Any suggestions?

The error message you're encountering, "cannot boot from CD - CODE:5 Bootmgr is missing," typically indicates an issue with the boot process from the installation CD. Here are some suggestions to help you resolve this issue: 1. Check Boot Order in BIOS: - Ensure that your computer is set to boot from the CD/DVD drive first in the BIOS settings. You can enter the BIOS by pressing a specific key during the startup process (often Del, F2, F12, or Esc). - Once in the BIOS, look for the "Boot Order" or "Boot Sequence" settings and make sure that the CD/DVD drive is listed as the first boot device. 2. Use Rufus to Create Bootable USB: - Instead of using a CD, you can create a bootable USB drive using a tool like Rufus. This method can sometimes overcome issues related to CD/DVD drives. - Download Rufus, insert a USB drive, select the Windows ISO file, and create a bootable USB drive. 3. Check Installation Media: - Ensure that the Windows installation disc or ISO file is not corrupt. Try using a different disc or download a fresh copy of the ISO from the official Microsoft website. 4. Burn Disc at Slow Speed: - When burning the Windows installation disc, use a lower speed to minimize the risk of errors. Burning at a slower speed can improve disc readability. 5. Verify Boot Image Integrity: - Before burning the disc, verify the integrity of the ISO image. You can use tools like MD5 or SHA-1 checksum to ensure that the image is not corrupted. 6. Replace Optical Drive: - If you have access to another PC, you can try using a different optical drive to rule out any issues with the current drive. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the "cannot boot from CD - CODE:5 Bootmgr is missing" error and proceed with a clean installation of Windows successfully. Let me know if you need further assistance or have any other questions!
