    Hi!

I've been plagued by BSODs off and on for over a year, and have literally replaced/upgraded every piece of hardware in my computer, except for the SSD that has the OS and Apps. I have reformatted/reinstalled Windows several times, all to no avail.

About 75% of the time when I reboot the computer without powering it completely down, the computer BSODs with the following screen:
    BSOD.

I get the same thing about 50% of the time if I fully power the system down and then boot it up.

Below are links to the three most recent minidumps:
    http://www.cameronlane.net/BSOD/022611-10124-01.dmp
    http://www.cameronlane.net/BSOD/022611-14040-01.dmp
    http://www.cameronlane.net/BSOD/022611-68780-01.dmp

Here are the CPU-Z screen shots:
    CPU-Z-SPD1. CPU-Z-SPD2. CPU-Z-SPD4. CPU-Z-SPD3. CPU-Z-Memory.

Here's a link to the RAMMon SPD info:
    http://www.cameronlane.net/BSOD/RAMMon.html

    Memory Specs from Manufacturer:
    4 X Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4096MB 1600 MHz (16GB total)
    9-9-9-24 1.50v

My computer specs are in my profile. In a nutshell:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965@3.4GHz
    Mobo: Asus M4A89GTD Pro
    Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD6850 1GB GDDR5
    Harddrive: Intel X25-M SSD 90GB

I'm pretty much at my wit's end and am desperate for a solution. Any help is appreciated!

I've also run numerous antivirus and anti-malware scans and come up empty, and I've run tests on the memory, and all the RAM tested error-free.

    Another minidump from minutes ago:
    http://www.cameronlane.net/BSOD/022711-13962-01.dmp

I've had trouble getting the minidumps to open properly in WinDbg, so I'm not even sure what the minidump says, and if I did I probably wouldn't know how to interpret it.

cybercore- thank you so much for taking the time to look at my problem. I can't begin to express my gratitude. You truly rock. As of now it appears that #3 was the culprit. I uninstalled the webcam, software, and associated driver, and have successfully rebooted 6 times in a row with no BSOD. Before I'd be lucky to get Windows to load without a BSOD 1-2 times in 6 reboots. I'll uninstall ElbyCD (don't need it anymore) next and figure out how to correct the memory settings. I'd like that memory to run at it's rated 1600MHz. My BIOS memory settings are set to Auto. Guess I'll have to figure out how to put the settings in manually. I'm the first to admit that I really only know enough about computers to get myself into trouble!

    Thanks again,
    Cam

Well, I just spent some time messing with my BIOS. I can't figure out what to tweak to get the memory set from 1440MHz to 1600MHz. I assume that I need to change the DRAM frequency, but 1600MHz isn't an option. My options change if I change the CPU Bus Frequency, but I'm afraid to do that since I admittedly don't really know what I'm doing and am worried I'll mess things up. Can anyone let me know what settings I need to change to make my memory settings correct, or is there a tutorial out there I can follow?

Edit: I tweaked the CPU Bus Frequency and was able to then change my DRAM frequency to 1600MHz. CPU-Z shows a DRAM frequency of 802.7MHz, which sounds about right, BUT CPU-Z also shows that my CPU Core Speed is running around 4100MHz. I know -zip- about overclocking, but I know my CPU is rated at 3.4GHz and I'm using the stock heatsink that came with the processor. Am I about to fry my processor or what?? What should I tweak to get my CPU clock speed within safe tolerances?

Edit 2: I adjusted the multiplier to get the CPU clock speed down to ~3.4GHz, but would still appreciate any advice about how I should choose these kinds of settings. I'd like my computer to run as fast as my hardware will allow without causing any damage.

Ok, you are very much welcome.

You shouldn't and needn't mess with the FSB frequency. All you need is DRAM options in your bios, DRAM frequency, CAS Latency, Voltage. Different bioses have different locations and different arrangements for those options, that's why I can't tell you for sure where exactly that is in your bios. Look up in your motherboard manual.

The motherboard manual should tell you more. Another way to get settings right is to load setup defaults in the bios, but watch out as that's gonna reset your entire bios, such as may change HDD controller mode from RAID to AHCI. So the better way is to adjust the dram options each manually. The QuickCam is not the culprit, good idea to update it though, if available.

Also, see if your motherboard has support for DDR1600.

    cybercore,

Thanks again. I did scour my motherboard manual before posting my questions. The manual is good at explaining where to find certain settings in the bios, but is very vague concerning what those settings do and what they should be.

I tinkered around with my bios settings and I think I got it figured out. The processor and memory are running at their advertised speeds, and the computer is stable. No BSOD events since I made adjustments to my system after your first post in this thread.

    Cheers,
    Cam

Sounds good, could you re-attach CPU-Z memory snip so I can see your new settings? Just in case. :)
