Windows 7 BSOD NTOSKRNL

I have had random BSODs and freezes on my Gateway laptop since I purchased it new in Jan 2010. I use it daily for school so I don't have time to return it for service. I am running a dual boot of Windows 7 x86 and Ubuntu 11.04 x86. I have crashing and freezing in both operating systems.

I figure that the problem is hardware but I'm not sure how to tell what piece is causing the problem.

Here is a screen shot of the main cpuz screen as well. I have SppedFan installed in Windows and the CPU core temp never goes above 60c

if u enter the bios

(usually something like DEL button)

turn off cool n quiet, try ensure within the control panel, under power options the settings are on BALANCED no on high performance ( this can cause unwanted heat )
 
The bios setup is very basic and there is no option to enable or disable cool n quiet, unfortunately. The performance is set to 'Balanced'.

Any more ideas???
 
The comments in your Dump File about the AuthenticAMD processor might seem to lead to a processor problem. Someone else that was having the same problem checked the Event Viewer and it showed a specific processor core. I have no way of knowing if it is related to the processor, but if you do find a Processor core number, perhaps there is an option in the bios to turn off just that core.

Whatever might be causing it, hardware is indicated. I know very little about CPU specifications, but you might post the Caches tab of CPU-z to see if anyone sees a problem.

Your speedfan.sys driver is from 2006 so it might be a good idea to look for a new drivers for it or remove it. Why that could effect Linux also, not sure, unless that system was causing problems for the power controls in both OSes. Since I do not know how it works, perhaps it is setting a speed for your system to will allow for cooling problems, even after you change to another OS.

If there isn't an option in the bios for disabling the core, you should be able to use AMD Overdrive to achieve the same result.
