I have got a couple of BSOD in the past couple of days. Can you please tell me what's going on?

Attached are the last 2 dmp files.

Hi amb and Welcome to The Forum

A quick answer as I've got to nip out. I'll update this thread when I get back but to start you off:
    STOP 0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    Usual causes:
    Device driver

Your latest dump file lists pssdklbf.sys as the probable cause.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes. Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

    pssdk42.sys Tue Jun 23 13:11:57 2009
pssdklbf.sys Tue Jun 23 08:57:38 2009 Packet Sniffer SDK Update or uninstall this pre Win 7 software.

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool in Safe Mode. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

The sptd.sys driver is notorious for causing BSOD's with Windows 7. It's a driver used and installed along with Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120 which you'll also have to uninstall.
Then use the correct (32bit or 64bit) download from Duplex Secure - Downloads to uninstall the SPTD.SYS driver.
Make sure to select the uninstall button! DO NOT SELECT INSTALL!!

    Update:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller v7.048 If you're unsure about manually installing drivers then choose the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1469821) option to download.

    Realtek HD Audio R2.66

    Thanks Elmer

Reading through your answer, I recalled that I installed a game yesterday that used Daemon Tools. I actually uninstalled it yesterday. But the BSOD was today, and 2 BSOD's occured before the installation of the game. I also installed several other games recently - maybe they have caused the problem?.

I cannot find 'Daemon Tools' under the uninstall a program in control panel, so was wondering how to uninstall it?.

I will uninstall Alcohol 120%, uninstall SPTD.SYS and update Realtek driver now and let you know the result.

The sptd gets installed with either Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%. Make sure to use the Duplex Tool to remove it. If the Duplex tool says sptd is not installed then GoTo C:|Windows\System32\Drivers and change sptd.sys to sptd.bak. That'll break it and stop it from loading. At a later point you can delete it.

And definitely sort out that Packet Sniffer. That was what most likely caused both crashes (dumps had same stop errors etc.).

Drivers that pre-date Windows 7. Update:

    wg111v2.sys Wed Dec 26 02:46:26 2007 NETGEAR WG111v2 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter NT Driver.

PxHlpa64.sys Wed Oct 17 19:25:02 2007 Sonic CD/DVD driver (used by many different CD/DVD programs).

Let us know how it goes. If you get further problems with blue screens, attach your new dump files and details and we'll move on from there.

    HTH.

I have addressed the Packet Sniffer by installing this: Packet Sniffer SDK. The pssdklbf.sys remains under the Drivers folder in windows but shows that it was last modified today. Does it need to be deleted?.

Thanks for the help Elmer. I will update if any more blue screens occur.

If you r-click the actual driver(s), look under the details tab which will give actual Mmanufacture date.

I've just installed NetWorx and it hasn't dropped anything in my drivers folder. That modified date may be due to the fact that "things were changed" when you uninstalled the original NetWorx? You could try with (both) the sniffer drivers from June 2009 to rename them and see if NetWoerx, errr, Worx!! :D

Do u mean rename it to .bak?

Edit: I renamed both to .bak, but NetWorx still worx :(

Edit 2: I uninstalled NetWorx, then re installed it. The .bak files were not modified, and no new pssdklbf.sys or pssdk42.sys files were created. Additionally, NetWorx continues to work.

That's good, unless you wanted NetWorx to stop working! :D Leave those drivers as .bak, say, for a week, then if everything else is working (software) as normal you can delete them.

Your biggest problems to be honest were Norton and the sptd.sys driver.

Please refer to Edit 2 of my last post.

Ok, I have already dealt with sptd.sys. I actually have had norton on my computer for ages and never had any problems, so it seems unlikely that it could be doing it all off a sudden.

I will see how my computer behaves in the next couple of days, and will report back if the BSOD reappears.

    Thanks again for the help.
