    Hello,

When i leave my system idle, after about 10 - 20min i get the beautiful BSOD. I have tried everything i know to fix the problem and have listed them below. The system never Blue screens when i am using the PC and i can run high spec games for hours with no problems.

Little edit... System also BSOD when watching Videos.... aslong as keyboard & Mouse not touched.

    - OS reinstall
    - Latest drivers off Asus Support - Except NVIDIA, as Asus are about 6months out of date, but i have tested with Asus driver and it still BSOD.
    - Roled back after windows update
    - RAM test - passed
    - HD test - passed
    - Chdsk
    - Turned system sleep, hibernate & HD shutdown OFF
    - Good old slap!

The only thing i cannot do is open her up as she is still under warranty. I did think that my HD could have been set as SLAVE, it has been in for a Motherboard repair recently and tech could have messed up. But wanted to see if there were any other suggestions before i send it off again.

Have attached a .txt with hardware info aswell as two .dmp files.

    Thanks for any help

    Tommy

One more update... quite often when it BSOD's the dump fails & sometimes when it restarts it says that there is no bootable device. If i reset works fine afterwards.

    Hi and welcome

run from command prompt chkdsk /r
    and
    sfc /scannow

ensure all microsoft updates and service packs are installed too

i would uipdate the graphics driver though

ensure you have updated your bios too.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply,

Ran both chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow, both came back clean. windows update added service pack 1 (thought that was already on) and gcard driver is fully upto date. Bios is also latest version. BSOD has not appeard yet, will give it a few more hours of testing.. fingers crossed!

    Cheers!

Ok well windows finally finished updating, and have double checked drivers. However i could not find any updates to the three called out above.

The BSOD happend again whilst idle for 4 minutes this time. Does anyome know a process that runs after 3-4min whilst idle, that could be causing this?

    Thanks for any help

    Tommy

please uninstsall daemon tools, then remove a driver SPTD.sys

    http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v174-x64.exe

then we can do a clean boot

start>in the search box type msconfig > click on services, TICK the hide microsoft services > then disable all , click ok and reboot

    test away

for a virutal drive you can use CloneDrive, This doesnt use the SPTD.sys driver which is well known for BSODS

I unistalled Deamon and removed the SPTD.sys. I then restarted and the BSOD still happened after 5min.

I then ran msconfig and turned off all non windows services, restarted and have been idle for 40min... with no BSOD...

So the problem is one of the 14 non windows services... I guess i will just have to go through testing one by one?

    Thanks for all the help.

    No BSOD?

Tune up was in my list to remove but not a priority, do the well known things first :D

    good luck
