Hello All,
Whenever I try to log into my bank login I get the Blue Screen of death and it comes up with a whole pile of stuff which is too much for me to read before it dumps something somewhere.......... but what I can read in time is Bugcode_USB_Driver
I looked on line and gives advice about updating USB drivers, which I have done and it still happens and this is using IE9 beta and google chrome both are affected.
I can browe the web but the minute I try to log into my bank account it crashes.
I also did a system restore to an earlier date but it still happens.
Any idea how to fix this extremely annoying fault.
I am not an expert so any answer has to be simple...................
Thanks

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start and type in sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box.
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

The .dmp files are located at C:\Windows\Minidump. Until a .dmp file is generated, the Minidump folder may not even exist.

Force a BSOD (go to your bank??) after doing the above.

Go to your C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Copy the .dmp files to a new folder on your desktop. Zip up that folder and attach to a post.

Hello Elmer,
Thanks for reply. I did what you said but I can't zip the file for some reason and when I try to copy and paste into word it says it is too big but it is only 180KB so I don't what to do.
When I tried to copy and pasteor upload the file for some reason the minidump file is padlocked ??? Yet I am the administartor????
Also I couldnn't set minidump to 256 the only size available was 185kb.
Any advice much appreciated......
DTR

The padlock would mean its not a "shared folder". You should be able to open the folder, right click the dump file (012611-123456.dmp) select copy, go to the desktop, right click on the desktop and select paste.
A copy of 012611-123456.dmp should now be on your desktop.
R-click the .dmp file and select Send to Compressed zipped folder.

Have you got the "Take Ownership" command in your context menu?

If not, this code saved as a registry file (Take Ownership.reg) will add it for you. You just merge the code into your registry by double clicking the Take Ownership.reg file. Then you just Take Ownership of the .dmp file and can do as you will.

Code:

Hi Elmer,
sorry for not getting back sooner but needed to find the time uninterupted. I think I have attached the requested file. I couldn't follow the stuff you sent about the registry.
Beyond my level of understanding.
Just how does this Bugcode_USB_Driver stuff come about???
Thanks DTR

The problem comes from too many outdated drivers incompattible with Windows 7.

Caused by Raport Trusteer:

5. If the updates are not available at your notebook support site, then check if the notebook is Windows 7 ready. You can search at the devices manufacturers sites too.

Hi Cybercore...........
Phew, what a lot of work..........
Funnily enough I had checked ALL the drivers I could find and updated them today and it looked like only 2 were out of date, Windows said all the others had the best drivers installed. Dell tells me my system is up to date.!!! So who knows.
I checked my computer with Microsoft and it said my system was ok to run win7. and I have been running it for about 2 years no problem and running Avast even longer.
I also downloaded "Driver update" and it told me I had 10 out of date drivers 2 of which were USB related.
I wll work my way through this and see if I can eventually fix it. Thanks to you and Elmer for your help............ I cannot help but wonder how it all happens.........
Regards
DTR

Windows said all the others had the best drivers installed

Update this way:

1. check notebook support
2. search devices support

Drivers dated 2006-7 are not for Windows 7.
At your notebook support, see if your model is compattible with Windows 7.

Hi Guys,
Just a quick update. I uninstalled Rapport as advised and my problem is GONE...........
IE 8 now loads within a few seconds (it had ground to a pitiful crawl though Chrome loaded a page in 4 secs or less) and I can sign in to my banking accounts. I will work my way through the rest of the list.
THanks again for all your advice and help.
Regards
DTR
