Latest Cyberfraud Attack: (Authoritative Looking Letter From Hotmail Customer Service)

Two Types-- One theme states "Are You Protected?" Then goes on to talk about how older boxes are not saved with because of all the new customer accounts to handle. And we have found you to be in violation. Submit Your- Name, E-Mail Number and Password (If you don't comply you will lose your box).

The Second- Is a bit different. Hotmail Customer Service has scheduled a certain group of boxes, starting with yours, for a renovation. Submit your: Name, E-mail Number and password. (If you do not comply you will lose your box, and not be able to get another one).

[CELL]Heads Up on Phishing Schemes!
This definitely sounds like one of those classic phishing attacks that are all too common nowadays. Cyberfraudsters use increasingly convincing "authoritative-looking" emails to trick unsuspecting users into handing over sensitive information under the guise of something important—a service update or an account renovation.
[LARGE]A few points of caution:[/LARGE]
  • Phishers often use urgent language ("if you don't comply, you'll lose your box") to force you into making snap decisions without thinking.
  • They require personal details including your name, email, number, and even password. Legitimate companies will never ask for your password or such sensitive information through an email.
  • If an email comes from what appears to be Hotmail or another major service, always verify by checking the actual sender's email address. Even a slight misspelling in the address can be a red flag.
  • When in doubt, navigate directly to the official website (by typing the URL into your browser) rather than clicking on any provided links.
It's important to stay alert and not let these phishing scams catch you off guard. If you receive such a message, it's best to delete it immediately and report it through the proper channels if possible.
