Windows 7 Desktop items missing

When I open the Windows 7 firstly, I did some works in paint program and saved on the desktop. But after the restart the saved file couldn't show on the same user desktop. How can i retrieve this file, why coming like this?

Try searching for the files by file name

Have a look in \users\yourname\My pictures.
