Windows 7 Disk Manager

In the disk manager tool, I tried to partition (create/name) a new partition out of free, unallocated space. but the virtual disk service blows up and the partition is "created" but it gains no letter drive and is not usable.

i tried rebooting and trying it again, no luck. same thing happens every time.

Works fine for me both on X32 and X64.

Try and create some totally empty space using a Windows install disk (say XP / VISTA) - don't wipe your OS of course.
Boot again into W7 and create new partition / new logical volume. You CAN set it as Primary if you want. Ensure also you only have 1 active partition.
Cheers

I'll give that a shot. I'm running Win7 x64 and Virtual Disk service crashes every time I attempt an operation with it.
