Does not Connect on Startup

Im running Windows 7 Professional 64Bit

I have Antivir as my Antivirus etc..
Broadband Connection Through a Tompson router (o2 supplier)

However, my internet connection through a cable does not connect on startup - i have to manualy "disable" the Network connectin through the Network and Sharing Centre. and then Re-enable it, for Windows 7 to connect, in order to give me access to the net.

What going wrong here?

My ethernet port is Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller (if that helps)
