I have a shortcut on the desktop to a DOS Program. The program runs all right. However, I can't change the icon's
appearance. It's all white with the shortcut arrow through it.

When I hit change icon, to choose a different icon,
nothing happens to the appearance of the icon on the
desktop.

I can change other icons on the desktop so it must be something with DOS. If anyone has any suggestions,
on how I can change the icon I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

David

The program will not run natively in DOS but will instead use the Windows Vista command shell which emulates some DOS functionality.

Most likely the program is not pointing to the right location. For the default Windows icons, right click on the shortcut, go to Properties, Change icon...,

Look for icons in this file:

Enter "C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll"

This will display the default Windows icons.
