It's taken 13 years, tens of millions of dollars, and a couple lawsuits, but the videogame that created the Vaporware Award is finally, officially on its way. Publisher 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software announced this afternoon at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle that the Chinese Democracy of videogames, Duke Nukem Forever, is complete and will ship early next year.

We've been following the rumor the game would make its debut at PAX Prime for a month, but given Duke Forever's joke-worthy development cycle, we vowed not to believe it until we saw it. Well, today we saw it. Gearbox studio head Randy Pitchford debuted the Duke Nukem Forever trailer and PAX attendees were given hands-on time with the game. Seriously.

"I know it's hard to believe, but it's totally real. It's really happening," Pitchford said before explaining how Gearbox got involved with the project: "I broke into the industry at 3D Realms, and I witnessed firsthand how the guys there put their hearts and minds into it. When Duke got into trouble, we wanted to help. We couldn't let the Duke die. We wanted to deliver the game that was supposed to be."

Pitchford said Gearbox, of Borderlands fame, got involved with finishing Forever in late 2009. The game is now in the "polishing stages" and is set to ship as a multiplatform title in early 2011.

We'll have the trailer up as soon as it becomes available. All hail the king, baby.

it must get over 90% on all reviews and be 20+ hours long with LAN & WEB multi to be considered a sucess after all the wait

I guess after all this time and money an epic fail would be disastrous... They are gonna have shift a lot of units to recoup the investment!

Hail to the King: Duke Nukem Forever

For some old-school gamers, Duke Nukem is probably the most anticipated game of the decade (since 1998). Despite the irreversible damage to the title, it seems that 2K Games and Gearbox have overcome all contrarieties and finally may release the game. The legendary kick-*** hero, returns on consoles and Windows PC in 2011; also with focus testing. Focus testing means that you are able to talk to the developers about what you really think it’s best for the game, plus it’s an opportunity to voice your opinions to Gearbox development team.

"The return of the King from the glory days of shooters will satisfy our patient, die-hard fans, as well as a new generation of bubble gum-chewing, flat top and shades-wearing bad-asses. Make no mistake about it - Duke Nukem Forever is a testament to the era of when shooters were bodacious and fun.

Put on your sunglasses and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are back and only Duke can save the world, again. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses won't stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-*** while doing it. The King of All Shooters is back with over-the-top weapons, massive aliens and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek, among other places. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle one of the many beautiful women that populate Duke's life; that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from kicking *** and taking names. Duke Nukem was and will forever be immortalized in gaming history, and this is his legend.

Duke Nukem Forever is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC and is not yet rated by the ESRB. 2K Games has the exclusive, long-term publishing rights to the game. To catch your first glimpse of the Duke Nukem Forever experience please visit: Duke Nukem Forever

Last time we've heard "when it's done"?
We’ve scoured plenty of ancient manuscripts and not one of them indicated that prophecies of “launching when it’s done” means February 2011, but Duke Nukem Forever is now listed on Amazon and Gamestop with the date Feb 1, 2011. Furthermore, there is also live footage that you really should see.

As far as the preview goes, it seems just like the good old Duke - defecating, beating up bad guys and making it look as well as sound good. It appears like the devs did their best to retain the same feel but check it out for yourself - you'll surely find everything just like you've left it in the previous installment, and then some. We love the last line though. Really, that kind of honesty is hard to find.

Note however that Gearbox acted quickly to shoot the alleged date down and the company claims it’s basically just a placeholder and not to be regarded as launch date. We, on the other hand, couldn’t care less as this is the first actual fixed date we can hang on. And hang we will. And we intend to hold on to it like God’s truth until it gets pushed back by a few months and, hopefully, released. Why? Well tell me – what are few measly months compared to 13 years?

Duke Nukem Forever arrives May 3; new trailer inside

feat-duke-nuke-list-thumb-640xauto-16224.jpg

The skies have opened, the gods have smiled, and 2K Games has announced an actual release date for Duke Nukem Forever. The game is for real, people have played it, and we know when it will go on sale to gamers who have waited over a decade to play the official sequel to one of the most-loved PC games ever released. You'll be able to buy your copy on May 3 in North America, and May 6 internationally. The game is coming to the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Also, there is a new trailer. Take a look:

If you're interested in the history of this storied game, now is a great time to reread our feature describing the rise and fall of the game's development.

While many gamers are skeptical about the game's quality, an actual release date is good news. Duke is a great character with a long history, and Gearbox was a good fit to finish work on the game. If it's bad, so be it, but if it's even half as good as the original, we're in for a treat. It's going to be a good day when a brand-new Duke Nukem game is on the store shelves

Duke Nukem Forever

Platform: Windows PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Rating: Mature

Content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol

Rating summary: This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of Duke Nukem, an action hero who must save Earth from invading aliens. Players use pistols, rail guns, shotguns, explosives, and Duke's bare hands to attack and kill the alien enemies. The majority of gameplay involves destroying these enemies in frenetic gun and laser battles in order to move on to the next section. Aliens are often decapitated or dismembered when hit, sending large splashes of blood across the ground, surrounding walls, and players' screen. Some sequences depict more 'over-the-top' instances of violence: aliens getting stabbed in the head or impaled; a human soldier bursting into bloody gibs after being tossed through propeller blades. In one sequence, players have the ability to shoot human characters that are trapped in pod-like alien webbing; bodies explode into pieces upon impact. During the course of the game, players enter a strip-club level and view several topless dancers and receive lap dances. A couple of missions within this level require players to recover sex toys and pictures of topless women. A few sequences strongly imply sexual acts: two women appear to perform fellatio on the central character (e.g., raising their heads from his lap)—though there is no actual depiction of the sex act; Duke moans and leans up against the wall of a bathroom stall (furnished with a hole)—it is implied that a sex act (not depicted) occurs. The game also contains several sexual references and innuendo in the dialogue (e.g., 'I have hungry—you have big egg ro' for me, Duke,' 'If you supply the dancing, I'll supply the pole,' and 'I'll need something naughty to play with.'). Duke's comments range from jokes about colon cleansing to several one-liners about sex and female body parts. Bathroom humor includes the ability to urinate in toilets or urinals and/or pick up feces from toilets and throw it against walls. Players can use both steroid pills and beer as power-ups; when beer is consumed, the screen temporarily blurs. The words 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' 'c*ck,' and 'a*shole' appear in dialogue and on-screen text.

System spec released:

Gearbox Software has finally released official minimum and recommended system requirements for what can be easily judged as the most anticipated FPS title of all time, Duke Nukem Forever.

The minimum specifications are pretty solid and include Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.0GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 at 2.0GHz CPU, 1GB of system memory, Nvidia Geforce 7600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 graphics card and 10GB of HDD space. The recommended aren't far behind, so you'll need at least Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 at 2.6GHz, 2GB of system memory, Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS or ATI Radeon HD 3850 graphics card and the same 10GB of HDD space.

The requierements aren't that high and by the looks of it, Duke Nukem won't bring anything new and impressive when it comes to graphics side.

Duke Nukem Forever is scheduled to show up on June 10th. (Yeah right. sub.ed.)

Here's a very, very 'un-pc' game from 2K. Basically beat the girls (one at a time) at a game of 'strip sharp-shooting'. Mind you there is a more consumer friendly version if you so wish or grandma's visiting. Here's a taster:

The game page can be found here:

Lunch time won't be the same again :)

Oh and I got three girls to strip, the last one you need to unlock and I've yet to beat her in a game..Damn! ;)
