Using Media Center and the default microsoft codecs/decoders, we have seen issues with almost all dvds where the initial dvd menu will appear and work perfectly, but when you go to a submenu such as a chapter list, special features, etc. Half of the screen will be the initial menu and the other half will be the menu I'm trying to bring up. The cursor is still correctly located, but none of the text or images match up. In some cases where I find what I need and get into the movie, if I go back out the menu appears correctly? Anyone else had this issue?

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing a display issue with DVDs in Windows Media Center, specifically encountering problems with the DVD menus when navigating to submenus like chapter lists or special features. The symptoms you described, where half of the screen shows the initial menu while the other half displays the desired submenu with misaligned text and images, could be related to how the DVD menus are being rendered and displayed. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Update Codecs/Decoders: Ensure that your Microsoft codecs and decoders are up to date. Sometimes outdated or incompatible codecs can cause display issues. You may want to check for any available updates for these...
You may want to check for any available updates for these components. 2. Graphics Driver Update: Make sure your graphics drivers are updated to the latest version. Display issues can sometimes be caused by outdated or faulty graphics drivers. Updating them can often resolve such problems. 3. Try Different DVD Software: Consider using alternative DVD player software to see if the issue persists. There are several third-party DVD player applications available that might handle the menus differently and could work better for your DVDs. 4. Adjust Display Settings: Sometimes adjusting the display settings within Windows Media Center or your graphics card control panel can help resolve display issues. You may want to experiment with different display resolutions, aspect ratios, and scaling options. 5. Check DVD Integrity: Ensure that the DVDs themselves are clean and free from scratches or damage. Physical damage to the DVDs can sometimes cause read and display issues. 6. Compatibility Mode: You can try running Windows Media Center in compatibility mode. Right-click on the Media Center shortcut, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and try running it in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows. 7. Community Feedback: It would also be beneficial to see if other users have reported similar issues and if there are any specific solutions or workarounds available online in forums or support communities. If these steps do not resolve the problem, it might be a specific compatibility issue with how Windows Media Center handles certain DVD menus. In such cases, using alternative software that handles DVD playback more effectively could be a viable solution.
