I am upgrading from Vista Home Premium 32-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, and purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack disk package.

I get the error Ox80070590 about half way through the intall process. Then I get rolled back to my Vista32. Very frustrating!

Any clues what this means? Thank you.

The error code 0x80070570 that you are encountering during the Windows 7 installation process typically indicates a problem with the installation media or the files being copied during the installation. Here are some common reasons and solutions for this error: 1. Corrupted Installation Files: The error may occur due to corrupted installation files on the disk. This can happen if the installation disk is scratched or damaged. - Solution: Try to clean the installation disk and check for any visible scratches or damage. If the disk is damaged, you may need to obtain a new installation disk. 2. Memory Issues: Sometimes, this error can also be related to faulty RAM or insufficient memory during the installation process. - Solution: Ensure that your system meets the minimum RAM requirements for installing Windows 7. If you suspect faulty RAM, you may want to run a memory diagnostic tool to check for issues. 3. Hardware Issues: Problems with hardware components like the hard drive can also lead to this error. - Solution: Check your hard drive's health using tools like CHKDSK to ensure it is functioning properly. Replace the hard drive if needed. 4. BIOS Settings: In some cases, incorrect BIOS settings can cause installation errors. - Solution: Check and ensure that the BIOS settings are properly configured for the installation of Windows 7. 5. Compatibility Issues: Verify that your system meets the hardware requirements for Windows 7. Sometimes, older hardware may not be compatible with newer versions of Windows. - Solution: Review the system requirements for Windows 7 and ensure your system meets them. If you continue to experience the error after trying these steps, it might be beneficial to try installing Windows 7 from a USB drive or obtain a new installation disk. Additionally, creating a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 installation files can sometimes circumvent installation issues related to optical disks.
